Press Release

The August Gigonometry Presents…show brings three fabulously talented female-led acts to the stage of The Workmans Club. We are excited and delighted to welcome the return to the stage of the uber talented Cat Dowling, a veritable legend on the original Irish music scene, indie-folk duo Grace Wilde and the recently-exploded-on-the-scene Silent Interlude.

Cat Dowling

Formerly the lead singer/songwriter with Alphastates (check out their back catalog, Made from Sand and Human Nature are two excellent indie-ambient electronica albums) Cat has in the recent past released the much-lauded ‘solo’ album The Believer (most of her old bandmates in Alphastates play on the album) with its single hits ‘Cruel’ and ‘Somebody Else’ (you can listen to the full album here… https://catdowling.bandcamp.com/ ).

Cat will be performing tracks from her recently recorded follow-up to The Believer, so this show is a unique opportunity to hear brand new tracks for the first time with a full band, as well as a smattering of more established tunes.

Grace Wilde

Singer/songwriter Audrey Fay operates with guitar improvisor collaborator Enda Duffy as Grace Wilde, and the duo perform exquisitely together, producing expansive sounds that belie the slim line-up.

Blending elements of jazz, blues, soul, folk and rock, Grace Wilde’s impressive performances at the YouBloom Festivalin Dublin led to an invitation to YouBloom LA 2014 in California.  In Ireland Grace Wilde have been gathering fans through headline gigs at Whelan’s and other top venues leading The Ticket to award them ‘Gig of the Week’ in The Irish Times and to airplay on national radio. The EP ‘Bring me to my Knees’ was recorded at Grouse Lodge and produced and engineered by Tony Platt (Bob Marley, ACDC, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy and Boomtown Rats). Platt also recorded and produced a live acoustic album Let Me In featuring Vyvienne Long on cello, which is available via the bands website and at gigs.

Silent Interlude

Relative newcomers to the scene (they performed their first gig in 2015) Silent Interlude (Niamh Walsh – Vocals and Guitars, Niall Cooke – Vocals, Guitars, Piano, Shawn Brennan – Guitars, Percussion, Seán Walsh – Vocals and Guitars) have already bagged themselves a slot at Electric Picnic as well as picking up attention from TxFM amongst other tuned in media outlets. They released their fine debut EP ‘Fate or Faith’ in June this year; the four excellent indie-ambient tracks show signs of a band very much in tune with each other, and Niamh’s voice is something to behold. Catch them now before you have to part with serious bucks and queue around the block!
