All FREE IN!!!

All The Craic. One Weekend

24 – 26 June

IT’S BACK! One of our favourite weekends of the year is rolling around again – and we’ve filled it with music, comedy, craic, a market, a mouth-burning-wing-eating competition, deadly DJs and more. Because we are sound and because we love you, it’s ALL FREE. With each night being curated individually, there is something for everybody.

Let us spill the beans on what to expect. On Friday, 24 June we have an awesome night sorted. Up in The Vintage Room (7pm) we have the Word Up Collective. These guys are a group of like-minded souls making hip-hop, soul, R&B and pop music. They are gonna blow the roof off the gaff when they bring together some of the country’s most exciting emcees for what will be a stunning hip-hop showcase – Ange MC, Anti-One, Damola, MC Axiom, Stay Gold and Young Phantom. SOUND. From 8pm in the Main Venue we’ve got one hell of a line up curated by Dolittle Presents, with Cian Nugent, The Altered Hours and a late show with Toby Kaar! Kicking everything off are five-piece Cork gang, The Altered Hours. Expect lush psychedelia and an intense live energy. The mercurial and awesome guitar player, Cian Nugent will take to the stage next. Cian is known for combining suburban/coastal blues, traditional music, late 1960s-’70s singer-songwriters, jazz ambitions, 20th century composition and the Takoma school into a deeply personal style. Amazing! Our late show on Friday night is none other than the absolutely savage Toby Kaar! Celebrating the recent release of his Gumbrielle EP, Toby has rightly earned a reputation for putting on an exhilarating live show laced with tense euphoric beat music, bastardised, alienised, with an eclectic mix of samples which are guaranteed to make you move. Upstairs in No. 9 Bar we have Steven Gannon (Kid Karate/Somewhere) who’ll be looking after the alternative & indie faithful, while on the right we’ll have Ronan Considine (Groovement Soul) on disco & house duties.

Before ya know it, we’ll be saying howya to Saturday! So what have we got in store for yiz, then? Well, from 12 noon we’ll be flinging open the doors and kicking off with The Green Shoes Events craft market . This craft market will feature all kinds of treasures, so come and have a look. Did we mention WOWBURGER will be serving up their seriously delicious burgers? Plus, we’ll have the annual Bison BBQ Hot Wing Challenge. This was tremendous last year. There were tears, laughter and a whole load of wings coated in the hottest sauce a regular human can withstand. Speaking of laughter, we’ll also have The Alison Spittle Chat Show at 3pm. This is a live podcast recording and a “punk version of the most unpunk thing in the world” – the humble chat show. Alison’s guest is Danish comedian and semi-professional Westlife fan, Sofie Hagen (BBC Radio 1, Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and Winner of the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe 2015) This will be mega-lolz. WeBloom have curated the live music in the Main Venue. 5 piece Beach will bring their blend of psychedelia infused with elements of electronica and slacker rock to the stage. Headlining are the very brilliant TooFools, multi-instrumentalists Steven McCann and Lorcán O’Dwyer. They’ve been tripping audiences out with their unique groove driven electro-pop and thrilling live performances. After the live music, the debonaire and dashing Trev will be spinning alternative tunes, indie anthems, psychedelic sounds and Manchester music. Upstairs, Louche (Nightlight) will be kicking out the house and disco jams. PHEW

Sunday, 26 June is going to be just as amaze. Here’s why. We are SO EXCITED to bring Black Bank Folk to the stage in the Main Venue from 8pm. Black Bank Folk are incredibly talented musicians, who have just released their critically acclaimed album Rising, which tells the lesser known tales of The Rising. They have been supporting Damien Dempsey around the country, as well as packing out shows in their own right. Do not miss this show! Midnight will see the return of The WMC Karaoke, where you get the chance to hit the stage. Always brilliant. Upstairs we have the lush Colin Devine spinning 80s, 90s and 00s Guilty Pleasures.

The Liquor Rooms will also be hosting some cool events as a part of the weekender, so keep your eyes peeled for more details! Plus, we are very excited to tell you that we are teaming up with Firstage, the first augmented reality music platform! They will be on-hand across the weekend to show you how it works and to capture some very special footage.

So, there you have it. 3 days of deadly music, laughter, food. ALL FOR FREE. Like Chandler says, it couldn’t BE any better.
