And This Is Where It All Begins..

Wednesday April 26th & Thursday April 27th, 8pm, The Workman’s Cellar

A story heard a thousand times but with a new start, middle and ending. Presented by BCFE’s Contemporary Music Performance course, And This Is Where It All Begins… is a showcase of fourteen acts currently working in the famous Dublin college. Since 1989 this annual event has introduced names such as Damien Dempsey, Lisa O’Neil, Wallis Bird, Junior Brother and Lucy Blue to the wider world – providing many memorable moments in some of Dublin’s most iconic venues along the way. This year’s gathering will be no exception, two nights displaying the talent to be found inside the walls of one of the oldest modern music schools in Europe. When it is all said and done, you will be one of the rare few to say you heard these acts first. In keeping with this aim, the shows will feature those who have already began to make a name for themselves on the Dublin scene – The Oceanographers, Roe Byrne, Leah Carey, Ian Hayes, Stiky Ryano – alongside those taking their first steps. It will cover a range of genres, from pop, electro and rock to hip-hop, acoustic, jazz and Balkan folk.

Running over two years, the HND course is ideal for aspiring professional musicians who want to learn more about the music business while developing their artistic and creative skills. Led by experienced musicians and industry practitioners, students can gain vital knowledge while meeting like-minded individuals and making invaluable connections. Described by the students as “the most anti generic course you’ll find in the music industry”, it encourages learners to discover and follow their own path.
