Ex Oh Promotions are delighted to present to you; Áise agus Éire, a celebration of Asian-Irish talent in the music scene. We have eight performing artists ranging from different cultures and genres, across two stages at the Workmans Club on the 10th of August 2023.

The Workman’s Main venue

Andromeda I (22:30 – 23:00)

Andromeda I (read as Andromeda the First) is a solo project started by Italian/Filipino songwriter and producer John Ocasion.

In their songs, constant restlessness can be found in the various combinations of sounds in commercial pop, synth-pop, and new wave with the research of sounds inherent in art-rock bands like Radiohead and Warpaint. The key-words that best encapsulate Andromeda I are “motion” and “connection”.

Kendino (21:50 – 22:20)

Kendino is a singer, rapper, producer, and part-time stylist from Dublin. Inspired by the likes of Joji and Childish Gambino, Kendino brings a combination of different genres that he makes as his own cadence. He has played a few shows since his debut in 2019 in venues such as Tramline, The Grand Social, and most recently The Workman’s Club.

Navya (21:10 – 21:40)

FFO: Shakey Graves, Gregory Alan Isakov and Tallest Man on Earth.

imBau (20:30-21:00)

imBau is a post-rock / grunge-gaze band that formed in 2023. The band consists of Ranier on lead vocals and bass, Skye on drums, Cormac on lead guitar and Eóin on rhythm guitar.

imBau’s music is characterised by heavy and ambient rhythms, with intense emotional vocals that blend together to create a unique and powerful sound. They combine melody and aggression in a melancholic yet energetic style.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Julie, Deftones, Superheaven and Slint; imBau has developed a sound that is both familiar and fresh, with a raw and emotional edge.

The Workman’s Cellar

Cable.Percussion (22:00 – 22:30)

cable.percussion (Johnny McDowell) is a South Korean / Irish electronic musician from Dublin, Ireland who creates energetic, cerebral dance music using analog drum and bass sequencers and hardware synthesizers.

His music incorporates elements of acid, glitch, techno, electro-house, trip-hop, jungle and IDM into a uniquely colourful and electrifying style of EDM.

Ethan Hollan (21:15 – 21:45)

Ethan Hollan, an up-and-coming indie/alternative musician, is a familiar name on DIY lineups across Northern Ireland. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter is recognised for his moving, stripped-dow performances, often featuring him and his guitar and achieved his first radio play with BBC Introducing and was prominently featured in issue 8 of Dig With It Magazine. He also appeared in the short documentary Northern Chirish, which explores the experiences of Asian artists growing up in Ireland.

In addition to composing his own music, Ethan has created soundtracks for documentaries and other creative projects. Ethan’s main goal is to promote diversity in the music industry and have a positive impact on the music scene.

Boringbrxwneyes (20:30 – 21:00)

Through a soulful blend of mellow vocals, laid-back beats and introspective lyrics, she offers a glimpse into her inner world and invites you to embrace your own fears, desires and dreams. Combining bedroom pop, R&B and chillwave, Boringbrxwneyes has created an honest, profound and ultimately uplifting soundtrack of the human spirit.
