Press Release

This month’s Gigonometry Presents… features the magnificent MUNKY, awesome 2-piece No More Questions, the talented songstress known as Emma O’Reilly, and launching her solo career with a bang, the uber-talented Laura Ryder.

Munky

MUNKY are a post-grunge band with a disco edge, born from a freak accident in which a shipment of Tesco lager cans collided with Chic’s tour bus. Their music is funky and furious, drawing influences from 70’s disco and funk, 90’s alt-rock and modern day psychedelia to produce their distinct sound. Their live shows have garnered excellent reviews for their energy and quality. In less than a year they have been picked to played Whelan’s Ones To Watch twice, opened for Le Galaxie, been picked by Hot Press as one of the must see BIMM acts, played at Longitude festival, the Aviva Stadium and for their first headline show they sold out Whelan’s main stage.

No More Questions

Electro Pop duo No More Questions first met in school and have been writing together ever since. Over the past couple of years, NMQ have been crafting their production skills and rehearsing for their live set, and the work has clearly paid off. The sound is electro pop, however their diverse influences seep through their songs creating interesting variation of dynamics from song to song. They recently released their second EP ‘Bow Lane Days’, named after the studio where they first began this musical journey, to a packed and enthusiastic Whelans audience.

Emma O’Reilly

Galway-born artist Emma O’Reillly has music in her DNA, from being surrounded by music as a child, to studying it as a subject in Trinity College.

2016 was a busy gigging year for Emma, recording her new EP in Arad Studios with Les Keye (Squarehead, Kevin “Herm” Connolly, My Sweet Beloved), and then touring Ireland and the UK, heading to Canada, the US, and rounding off the year with performances in Lithuania (as a guest of the Irish Ambassador), and at home in Volt Studios in Dublin, and Dublin Ink.

FRACTURES is her second independently produced studio EP, recorded by mixing live and multi-track processes. It explores a sound much closer to her live shows, and digs into her alternative rock influences. The result is alternately introspective and ferocious, vulnerable and dramatic, intricate and engaging.

“Striking…O’Reilly takes centre stage.”- Stephen White, The Last Mixed Tape

“A seriously talented songwriter and musician.” – Goldenplec

Laura Ryder

Laura Ryder is a songwriter hailing from Co. Mayo, Ireland, who is now making music with full band under the title Laura Ryder Ampersand. The ensuing music is a mix of everything they get their ears on, taking influence from alternative pop, folk, blues, and jazz.

Laura self-recorded, produced and released her debut EP ‘haiku’ in early 2016. She recorded her new album Vestigial with full band in The Meadow Studios. It is due to be released on the 6th of October in The Bello Bar Dublin, after a small Irish tour.
