The second gig of our summer 2-nighter in The Workmans Club features the exciting new Dublin act Starlings, Cork 3-piece Elbé, and Kildare-based ensemble In the Space Between.
Starlings started off as a midweek getaway for co-workers Paul, Sean and Dan. What started as a bit of fun turned into full-on writing sessions and before they knew it, they had some original material we were really excited about.
They draw influences from a wide range of artists, such as John Mayer, Oasis & the Beatles, punksters GreenDay, Blink 182, whilst fourth member Cooney comes from a trad background, all adding up to a very diverse sound.
Their first single Tobacco is about those types of relationships that are fleeting, but impactful, and has received extensive radio play.
Since forming in early 2018; Elbé have been crafting music, combining the unique talents of each member to great effect. Featuring the haunting songs of Seamas Allen, the immense drumming of Nora Frederich, and blended by Kieran Fitzgerald’s melodic bass lines, Elbé play memorable indie alternative rock, paying tribute to the late 20th century greats; while forging ahead with their own vista-esque sonic identity. Elbé released their debut EP “Contours” online in May 2019, with vinyl and CD due in the autumn.
