The first night of our Summer Special features a very tasty line-up indeed. Newish but classy Dublin-based act Rob Walsh & the Panik Attaks will close out the show in a haze of harmonic mayhem. Kerry-based Deep Sky Objects have descended meteor like on the music scene and will rip through the atmosphere to play a super set of sizzling singles on our special stage, and kicking things off is the wonderful Proper Micro NV, also travelling the M7 to bring a very different slice of the south-west in the form of his captivating electronic meanderings.
Consisting of Rob Walsh (Lead vox and Rhythm guitar) Mick Pyro (Lead) Phil Deadly (Bass) Trevor Keogh (Drums), The Panik Attaks have been ripping up stages around the country since their debut show last year on the infamous Salty Dog stage at Electric Picnic. With a debut album coming this year and a few singles to wrap your heads around in between, it’s the live gigs when you can really start to come to terms with what this stellar line up is capable of. It’s a fuse that’s been lit. It’s Post Punk. Its balls out Rock n Roll. Catch them before it all goes up in flames!!
Deep Sky Objects are a three-piece alternative-rock band from Kerry. The band members include brothers Kevin O’Brien (lead vocals, guitar), Thomas O’Brien (drums and backing vocals) and DD Foley (bass guitar and backing vocals). Deep Sky Objects stemmed from a shared mutual interest in groups such as The Smiths, Interpol and Radiohead.
Released in June 2015, ‘We’re Done Falling’ is Deep Sky Objects’ debut EP and received great feedback from fans and reviewers. Following an appearance at ‘Whelan’s Ones to Watch 2017’, the band began recording their self-titled EP ‘Deep Sky Objects’ in WhiteWell Studios, Cork. The tracks are recorded and mixed by Ciaran O’Shea who has worked with acts like Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and The Frank and Walters. ‘Deep Sky Objects’ was also mastered by Fergal Davis who has previously worked with artists such as Muse and Sinead O’Connor.

Proper Micro NV aka Rory Hall’s brand of experimental electronic music has seen him being compared to James Blake and Mount Kimbie, whilst also receiving recognition from Irish electronic songstress and former Moloko front-woman Roisin Murphy; who called his voice “Gorgeous”. His debut EP titled ‘EP1’ was released in June 2016 to positive reviews. The Irish Times said that Proper Micro NV’s vocal was “One of the most interesting new voices on the Irish scene in some time”, also stating “it was a great showcase for Proper Micro NV’s distinctive, soulful, bittersweet vocals and off-kilter electronica”. Soon after Hall was announced by RTÉ 2fm as one of 30 acts shortlisted by an expert judging panel to perform at Electric Picnic.
In December, Hall released his second EP ‘It’s Always Raining’ via Plasmapool records. In early 2017, music platform Spotify selected Flaws for their official Fresh Finds playlist, causing a large increase in listenership and popularity. In March 2017 Proper played Futureproof – the first of a series of gigs run by both Nialler9 & Homebeat. Six months on from the release of ‘Its Always Raining’ – Proper Micro NV returned with a brand new track ‘All About Me’, taken from his new six track EP ‘Colours’, which offers a blend of electro-pop, ambient and slow burning dance music, and later played the Wonderlust Stage at Body&Soul festival. Colours was nominated for the long list of the RTÉ Choice Music Prize 2017.
