Join us for the extraordinary opening night of Lingo 2015 featuring a bumper packed lineup of the finest lyrical spoken word artists and snappy sketch performers in Ireland today; featuring a unique set to mark the passing of the torch from 2014 Lingo poet laureate John Cummins to this year’s bard John Moynes. Anchoring the night will be Tongue Fu, one of London’s liveliest and best attended spoken word nights; a riotous experiment in live literature, music, and improvisation; always unrehearsed, frequently surprising, sometimes poignant and often hilarious. Witness ten of Ireland’s top performance poets and slam champions perform to sublime improvised soundtracks from the genre-defying Tongue Fu band , inimitably emceed by host Chris Redmond.
Featured artists: Chris Redmond and the Tongue Fu band, Lewis Kenny (Bohemians FC poet laureate), Oisin McKenna (Fringe festival star), John Cummins (All Ireland Slam Champion 2013), John Moynes (broadsheet.ie limerick writing legend), David Lee Morgan (UK & US Slam champion), Genevieve Healy, Bern, Brian McMahon Gallagher, Anne Tannam, Stephen Clare, Cormac Fitz, and the comedic stylings of sketch troupe The Brownbread Players (Kalle Ryan, Gus McDonagh, Eva Bartley, Sean McDonagh).
