Building on from his debut album, Outer Monologues, Lane expands his own sound further by exploring country stylings and stories in unconventional manners. Showcasing his emphatic turn of phrase alongside quintessential country instrumentation, Lane reflects on many moments in his life with earnest growth.

Where Outer Monologues gave a glimpse into one bad night in the life of the author, it ended with the promise of things getting better. Now we have Common Country Misconceptions, and Lane asks ‘what comes after happily ever after’? As a life long fan of country music, Lane listened to the great tales of heroes overcoming evil, winning the loves of their lives and riding off into the sunset. *Roll credits*

Lane explores the common themes of country music and challenges the idea of the ‘happy ending’. Once we find happiness in our lives, we can put so much pressure on ourselves to never feel down again. Lane reminds us in Common Country Misconceptions, that even when your dreams do come true that you are still human, and that’s actually a pretty good thing.

Emerging with his first singles, ‘The Dark’ and ‘Move On’, Lane continued to be spotted in 2017 by Echoing STEM as the newcomer of the year and later receiving a nomination for Irish Post Indie Artist Of The Year in 2018 after releasing his debut EP People Leave In Colour. Adding to his extensive catalogue, Lane released his second EP The Big Break, two live albums Making It Up As I Go Along Part 1 (Studio) and Part 2 (The Live Show) in 2019 and his experimental folk EP ‘Weak Beneath the Knees’ in 2020, all in the run up to his debut album, Outer Monologues in 2021.

Outer Monologues was originally captured through instrumental and lyrical fragments which became a weaving concept album that garnered Lane great notoriety for his ability to create stories while showing his experimental musical capabilities.

Lane has performed multiple solo tours across Ireland, the UK and the US, while also performing high profile support slots for acts such as Charlie Parr, The Brother Brothers, Tootawl, Rozi Plain, Kiran Leonard, Crywank, and more. Known for his ability to connect with audiences through his vivid storytelling, Lane blends his lyricism with beautiful and exciting melodies and instrumentation.
