Súp are one of Ireland’s most exciting jazz acts, recently selected by RTE LyricFM to represent Ireland in the EBU Euroradio Jazz Competition, and one of only four bands to make the final in Amsterdam.
The power and beauty of folk and traditional-Irish music is clearly manifest in their sound. Many of Súp’s arrangements deviate from traditional jazz forms to explore elements of classical music and through-composed contemporary jazz. Add an irresistible inclination towards a groove-based sound, and you end up with an urgent new musical lexicon.
