The Next Big Thing Festival
Ex Oh Promotions are thrilled to announce our fourth annual ‘The Next Big Thing’ festival, live from The Workman’s Club on Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th of January 2025. The Next Big Thing is a proudly DIY festival, curated by musicians for musicians. Ex Oh’s philosophy puts independent artists at the centre of the industry, giving them a platform, and ensuring that they not only get the recognition they deserve, but are paid fairly for their craft. The festival’s mission is to give a platform to the incredible breadth of talent this island has to offer. Some highlights this year include Annie and the Witness, yes chef! , Vaticanjail,Teeejuh, and AILSHA – showcasing the festival’s diverse tastes. With 21 artists taking to the stage for three electrifying nights of music, The Next Big Thing is all set to brighten up the gloomy January nights, giving you something to get buzzed for once the Christmas season’s over. Boasting an eclectic line-up from hip-hop to heavy rock, indie, and DJ sets – there’s guaranteed to be something for every kind of music fan. TNBT alumni include The Cliffords, Essiray, Speakers, and The Fae who continue to blaze a trail through the music industry in Ireland and internationally. The Next Big Thing introduces gig-goers to a new wave of home-grown talent, as well as giving them a real festival feel with two stages across the iconic Workman’s venue on Wellington Quay. This year’s event will also include a mini vintage market beside the Cellar Stage, along with local market stalls selling bespoke art and jewellery! For 2025, Ex Oh have thoughtfully responded to the cost-of-living crisis in Ireland. With the interests of students, young people, and unwaged and lower-income individuals, the festival has chosen to introduce tiered ticketing, with prices starting at €10 for 3 nights of music. We hope that this approach enables more accessibility with regard to audiences, and we endeavour to do more to increase accessibility to live Irish music in future. The Next Big Thing 2025 is sponsored by Oatier, who will create a bespoke one-time only cocktail for the festival, and after last year’s attendees went mad for the Espresso Oatini, you better believe it’ll be a goodie. Additional sponsors will be announced. Finally, Ex Oh has partnered with Safe Gigs Ireland to create an environment that is free of discrimination, and sexual violence for all attendees, and where there is a zero-tolerance policy for abuse of artists, attendees or Workman’s staff.
